Coping with Lack of Support

Wow. That actually made me cry because it’s so true for me.😢😢I wish I had support because some days are really difficult to get through. I never had any medical problems until 15 years ago. I was an avid runner, did karate and worked nights as a critical care nurse. I developed some autoimmune issues, that took me out of the workforce, 12 years ago. I don’t want to bother my adult children and friend’s with the issues and problems that I have. Everyone has problems. Even if they are the picture of health. But chronic issues, are something different. They just don’t understand . They try. In the beginning I shared a tiny bit with them. But ultimately, they don’t understand. I don’t blame them either. I feel like people can’t really understand challenges that we face,because of having chronic medical issues. Our lives have been changed and altered completely. Unless someone has a chronic issue, it’s just not something they can comprehend. Most medical problems people have, start and finish! There is a beginning and an end. Not for chronic problems. The impact and difficulties we face, are things no one even considers. Why should they. They don’t have to deal with them. I didn’t understand them, prior to suffering with them. I don’t know what to do. It is so hard and depressing. Dealing with medical issues is bad. But , dealing with them and feeling very alone, makes it that much worse. It makes what you have to deal with on a day to day basis, that much harder. I feel like I am just an irritant to my family and a waste of space on society. I have never told anyone that. I am not sure why I am sharing it now. I guess I feel safe since it’s kind of anonymous. For those of you who feel the same way, I am truly sorry. I understand your pain. I am happy to talk to anyone about this issue we face, if anyone is interested in doing so. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts.

wow sounds like we all have so much in common. is there somewhere we can all chat to bring awareness or just support for others. im not alone but I definitely feel like I am. I have learned how to just stay quiet and let everyone else have their life apart from mine. mostly I believe others dont truly take it upon themselves to try to understand. I usually listen to people to hear where I maybe can help which is just how I've always been but after I am not needed im left. it is so difficult. any suggestions as to how we can chat somewhere online or phone. to help give support to one another? thanks
